Iota Sigma Pi Membership

There are many benefits to joining Iota Sigma Pi. The following is a list of some of the benefits of membership in Iota Sigma Pi as formulated by the membership of the Plutonium Chapter:

QUALIFICATIONS FOR MEMBERSHIP

Members are elected on the basis of scholastic and/or professional record. Those eligible for election are as follows:

Undergraduate Students

Are enrolled in any accredited college or university offering a BA or BS in chemistry or closely related science.
Have achieved Junior status.
Have an overall GPA of 3.0 (on a 4.0 scale).
Have completed at least six semesters of chemistry with a chemistry GPA of 3.0 or at least four semesters of chemistry with a chemistry GPA of 3.5 (on a 4.0 scale).

Graduate Students in Chemistry or an Allied Field

Have completed successfully at least nine semester hours (or equivalent) of graduate study in chemistry or a related science.
Have a GPA of 3.0 (on a 4.0 scale) and are not on probation.
Meet the eligibility requirements for undergraduate students listed above.

Professional Applicants

Have a Ph.D. in chemistry or an allied science OR
Have a bachelors or masters degree in chemistry with a GPA of 3.0 (on a 4.0 scale) or at least three years of employment in chemistry or an allied field OR
Have a bachelors or masters degree in a related field with at least five years of employment in chemistry or a related field.

Which application form do I use?

Use the Initiation into a local chapter form:
1. if you are a local chapter officer obtaining forms for potential members.
2. if you are a potential member who knows the local chapter contact or treasurer.
3. if you know you reside in an area with an active chapter, but need the local contact person, contact the National VP, QuynhGiao N. Nguyen.
Use the application for initiation by National Council Action - if you do not reside near an active chapter and will become a Member-At-Large.

If you can meet the qualification for membership and are interested in becoming an Iota Sigma Pi member, please print and fill out the appropriate form and return it (original plus three copies), with one year's membership dues ($15 for students, $35 for professionals) and a one time initiation fee of $15, made out to Iota Sigma Pi to your local chapter treasurer or a National Director:
