
IOTA SIGMA PI ANNA LOUISE HOFFMAN AWARD
FOR OUTSTANDING ACHIEVEMENT IN GRADUATE RESEARCH
CRITERIA:
On the due date of nomination, the candidate for this award must be a full-time (as defined by the nominee's institution) woman graduate student who is a candidate for a graduate degree in an accredited institution.
The research presented by the candidate must be original research which can be described by one of the chemical divisions of the American Chemical Society (e.g. analytical, biological, environmental, geochemistry, inorganic, materials, nuclear, organic and physical).
CONDITIONS:
Nominations for the award must be made by members of the institution's faculty, and only one nomination may be submitted by each department. It is not necessary that the person making the nomination be a member of Iota Sigma Pi. Nominations must be received by February 15 and the recipient will be notified by April 16.
The faculty member nominating an individual for the Graduate Research Award should prepare and send the original plus 5 (five) copies of the following information:
1. The nomination form containing the candidate's
permanent and school addresses.
2. An academic history, including transcripts from the colleges and universities
attended by the candidate.
3. Two recommendations:
a. One from someone, such as a research advisor, who
knows the candidate's work.
b. One from someone else who is familiar with the
candidate's research capabilities.
4. A brief description of the candidate's research and a list of publications
and/or talks or papers presented outside the degree requirements. The
description of the research should be no more than two pages and must be
prepared by the candidate.
AWARD:
The honorarium will be $500. In addition, the winner of this award will be offered one year free membership in Iota Sigma Pi.
